The below procedure is a step-by-step walk thru on how to create a subsite off of a parent team site for Office365’s SharePoint
From the Home page you want to add the subsite, get to the option to add subsite with one of the following options.
If there are already subsites listed in the quick launch bar, you may click on the Subsite title link.
OR you may click on the Site Contents link in the Quick Launch bar.
OR from the Office 365 Settings menu, select Settings Content.
From the Site Contents screen, scroll down to the Subsites section and click on the +new subsite link.
Enter the Title, Description, URL name, and Template Selection (default Team Site).
Select the Permissions for the new subsite. The default is to Use same permissions as parent site.
Select the Yes radio button for both the display this site on the Quick Launch of the parent site and Use the top link bar from the parent site.
Click the [Create] button
